Unboxing: Fairyloot September 2016

It is time—fairyloot time!

This is my second book box from Fairyloot and I am super excited about it.

September’s theme was Magic and Mayhem! 😃

So… the items?

It was revealed beforehand that the box would contain an exclusive candle from Castle of Fables. There were three different candles, each representing one of the Grisha Orders.

And I got “Materialki”. 😃

– I have to admit: this candle has a very strong scent. I can’t determine whether I like it or not because it’s so strong that I can’t make it out at all. I know there’s a sweet scent in there, but that’s it.

It is insanely photogenic, though. And the color fit so well with Fairyloot in general.

Prior to shipping, it was revealed that the box would be perfect for people who like Grisha and Russian folk tales.

Considering that this little cutie is a Russian doll, I have to admit it fits. Plus it is super adorable.

I haven’t read “A shade of magic” but I have it on my shelf since I loved Schwab’s “This Savage Song”.

So these four pins designed exclusively for fairyloot by BookOtter are perfect.

BookOtter also designed this Felix Felicis sticker for whenever I feel down on my luck.

Obviously, I need that.

I am a big fan of Behind The Pages bookmarks. My July Fairyloot included a coloring bookmark from her.

Yet, it would seem that I’m just not that lucky when it comes to them.

The coloring bookmark had to be sent after I received the box in July, and this one—amazing and gorgeous as it is—is sticky. The silver dots stick to everything, so I don’t think I’ll be using it in my books.

I really love the design, though. And it totally fit the book.

I read “Six of Crows” in September for my bookclub, and I absolutely loved it.

So these four postcards will be treasured 💛💜

Literary Emperium makes some gorgeous items, and this Grisha notebook is so pretty.

And this Second Army print from GoodNightKittens is amazeballs too.

I really like that so many items fit together. As a new fan of the Grisha World, I am thrilled to have so many fandom goodies now.

One of the new additions to the box is this fairyloot book bag.

And I absolutely love it.

It’s no secret that I’m not the biggest fan of totebags. I don’t really use them, and I find them big and clunky.

In fact, I’ll most likely try to make them all into pillows.

But… this bag…

Not only is it super awesome initiative. It also gives some fairyloot swag to subscribers. (and let’s all admit it. The fairyloot logo is awesome)

Plus, it’s perfect for storing items from book boxes. Like art prints and notebooks that I want close but not lying around in case my cat starts clawing at them.

Plus, I can totally pin all my bookish badges on it.

Needless to say, I’m a big fan of this. It even fits on the shelf! 😃

Fairyscoop has a little quiz and an interview.

As much as I love most of this box, I don’t know what to think of this.

I like reading interviews and mini magazines a lot, but I find it a bit redundant to include FairyScoop when there’s the Fairyscribe (newsletter) and the awesome spoilercars with the theme art.

There’s a lot of possibilities with it, though. And I’m excited to see what becomes of this, but as it is now, I don’t see the point compared to a regular interview.

(but the logo is still pretty, though)

And Finally the book: Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter.

Verdict: I really loved this box.

I loved that there was goodies that related to the chosen book (necklace and bookmark) and I am all starry eyed for all the Grisha Goodies.

Honestly, I’d like to se more of that kind of goodies. You know… Goodies in the same fandom. Both for the chosen book but also other fandoms.

Not in an only-one-fandom-in-the-whole-box way. But maybe three fandoms with two items each? (On average there’s around six goodies in a box)

I don’t know. It’s a risk since it would suck if a subscriber really hated one fandom or hadn’t read it yet.

But on the flipside, it also helps introduce new books.

I mean, even though I already bought A Darker Shade of Magic, I am 100% more likely to pick it up faster now that I got some bookish merch.

Maybe that’s just me. And maybe I just want all the fandom swag I can get my greedy little hands on 😃

Also… Fairyloot now offers month-to-month subscriptiona with automatic renewal at the 1st of every month.

This is something I absolutely love. I am horrible with money. I really am. And having the box paid for at the beginning of the month is a much needed feature for my budget.

It is also the reason why I’m super excited to get the Steampunk Rebellion box this October. Eep.
